how I am doing mentally

mentally I'm holding up pretty good. a lot of things are still very new and I'm still exploring the city and the way of living here. in my room and generally in my apartement I feel at home and I always love to come home. I often think of the people I love and still call them regularly. one thing I currently struggle with is finding friends. a lot of exchange students only stay here for one semester so a lot of the interactions with people are superficial. the other thing is that bonding and connecting on a deeper level is much more difficult in a foreign language than in your mother tongue. because you can not connect so much over humor or sayings you have to articulate a lot of the things you say.
storms pakhus

this cool street food place near the harbor offers sooo many different kinds of food and drinks and is just truly amazing. we went there two more times already since monday. every food I tried was very tasty and flavorful. this place also hosts events like bingo nights, concerts, flea markets and more. there is a huge seating area outside but there's also a lot of space inside for when it gets cold! I know for sure that I will show this place to everyone that comes to visit me! definitely will also be back for the bingo night!!
uni

this week uni started. fist of all the campus is huuuge it's approximately 25'000 square metres. it has different cafeterias which are very cheap, cafes, running tracks, an indoor swimmig pool and there's three different tram stops around the campus because it's so big. there's also a bicycle repair shop (!) where students can get their bikes fixed. so the campus is really nice, but finding the right rooms is a bit of a challenge :) so far the classes I have been to were a bit disappointing. the classes are mixed with both international and danish students. I think that's why they never gave us any information on the grading system or the exams. the profs also don't seem to be very motivated. but maybe I also just have to get used to the new lecture styles.
friday bar

every uni in denmark has their own bar which is called the friday bar. ours is located inside our uni and is open from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. and let me tell you, it IS a thing. it seems like everyone stops by after classes and has a few beers. when I first walked in there I was kinda overwhelmed. these pictures were taken at 5 p.m. the bar was completely filled with students. there is loud music blasting and people are playing beerpong on these funny tables you can see below. I was suprised by how many people are in this bar at 5 p.m. everybody was having a great time and people drank A LOT of alcohol. for me personally it was a bit too much and I don't see myself going there every friday but rather once every month:)

chocolate milk

one thing Denmark is famous for is their chocolate milk. now I'm not a huge fan of such things and I don't drink chocolate milk often at all but I thought why not try it here since it's so popular. it might seem weird that they sell chocolate milk in a can but it actually tastes really good. the can keeps it very cold in comparison to the tetra pak. my final rating is a 7/10 since it still has this artificial taste but it's definitely worth a try!

the harbor

on saturday we went to the harbor to tan and read. it was 27 degrees celsius outside and it was just such a nice atmosphere. as far as I know it's prohibited to swim in the sea because it's not marked as a swimming zone but people did it anyways. for a long time I couldn't believe that I was actually tanning by the sea because it's just so weird to have the sea nearby. it was when I saw jellyfish and little crab in the water that I realized it is all real! it was so nice to just soak up the sun for what felt like the last time and nap in peace.
on Sunday I went to Copenhagen with my friend Julia, but this little trip will be covered in the next weekly blog! see you then, it will definitely be worth it!
